Hey,
I can't find any reference in the Service manual (actually I'm looking at the SL1200M3D service manual) on how to reset the anti-skate to the factory specification. Does anyone know how to do this? The setting on one of my turntables is way off... the tonearm anti-skate balance goes the opposite way that it should when the anti-skate is set to "0" Many thanks, Steve |

Steve,
It wouldn't surprise me if the arm is broken. When the arm is hanging in the air freely (0 gram) and the anti skating knob at 0, you shouldn't notice any influence of the anti skating mechanism. Meaning that the arm should stay at any position you place it over the turntable platter if the turntable is leveled. If it doesn't, the arm bearings are out of calibration and you can't fix that. Don't turn the little screws of the bearing, it will only make things worse. Once you increase the anti skating the arm should return to its rest position. The recommended procedure to correct anti skating is e.g. 2 gram weight = anti skating button on #2, 3 gram weight = button on "3 and so on. /Hugo |
