I tried to use my STS305 last night and the platter would not spin because it had dropped onto the plinth.

Looking inside one of the suspension points had dropped. The spring had a ruber plug on the end with a steel washers, all trapped by a nut. The rubber plug had perished, oddly this one was the least compressed as it was at the front with the lightest load.

I bodged a repair with a tap washer, but would like something more compliant

Hi,

some sort of replacement can be fashioned from cable grommets.

Proper rubber is much harder to get these days, usually PVC.

Basically you use a large grommet with the top cut round to its waist.
You then use a smaller grommet within the large one to centre it.

:) /sreten.

Rubber washers

What size are these washers? I work as an electrician on a busy building site and if we don't have anything in our stores we've a large plumbers stores and a big maintainance shop to go at. No guarantees, but I would have thought we would have something.
We use a lot of neoprene seals and fittings and these are a good substitute for rubber. Si.
