My brother has a Lyra Da Capo going into an ARC PH2 phono stage. The cartridge is just a bit too low output to fully load his Marantz CD recorder, and he wants to archive some vinyl onto CD. What are the options:
a) Is it possible to change the input resistance and capacitance on the PH2? This would be the simplest fix b) Change the Lyra for a higher output cartridge - if so, suggestions? c) Change the PH2 for a phono stage that works with very low output cartridges? d) Insert a step-up transformer. He tried the better Ortofon and didn't like the sound. e) Anything else? Thanks for suggestions! Andy Evans |

Hmmm........
all sounds a bit seriously expensive just to archive some vinyl. If levels are fine for normal playback why the problem with the recorder ? Any decent recorder will have variable input level and accept a signal from a pre-amp at normal level. Perhaps you have it set to a default CD level analogue input level (2V) and need to change something to set it to more normal line level in (200mV). /sreten.
