Default technics 1210 mkII-unwanted backspin

Have recently bought my first pair of Technics 1210 mkII's second hand!overall they work fine, but i have one problem in that whenever i stop the deck(this happens on both),the platter spins backwards instead of just stopping.I am wondering if this is a common problem, and how i can rectify it?cheers.

Maybe a over-adjusted brake?
There should be a trim-pot for brake-function on the electronic-control-pcb...

Default VR201

Try to adjust VR201, normally the platter should stop in less than a half-turn.
