Hi, does anyone have a owners manual for the technics 1600? I just got one from a friend and would like to know how to set it up. Also does anyone know if the denon 103R cartrige would sound good in this table. Thanks for your help.

I have an SL1700 which it the semi-auto version of your 1600. You can get the SL 1700 Manual here. . I have always used a Grado MI cartridge with carbon fiber headshell. I use a machinist level on the plenth left/right-fore/aft. The feet are adjustible but ideally u you set it on a granite surface plate and adjust the shims under that. I used a Audio Tecniques protractor to set the cartridge angle. I run the balance at about 1-1/4g to 1-1/2g using the stock arm
