Bix is seductive BUT a LOT of $$ for something that an old Used Thorens can easily equal... ..and with tweeks ?.

I won't argue with your statement since I just have not compared the 2...I simply do not have the experience to rebut your statement...
but I would like to argue with you that the BIX is the best you can buy for that price. Where else could you get something with an 4mm acrylic platter, high quality inverted bearing, external motor pod. Two layered plinth with that quality acrylic... Various folk have commented on how the BIX blows their LINN LP12 out of the water, no comparison possible. So I suppose any old Thorens would beat the LP 12 as well by a comfortable margin? Did Ivor do such a good job with marketing ![]() Have you listened to a BIX? If so what did you find were it's strengths and weaknesses? |

Cool to see an assembled BIX, I have heard a lot of good things about this kit, and am thinking about getting one eventually. The price is very reasonable.. Where did you get yours, last time I checked they weren't yet available.
