Hello,
since a little more than 17 years I'm the (more or less) proud owner of a Thorens TD 280 mkII with a Stanton 500 mkIII pickup. I bought it when I was nineteen and in that time it was the absolute high end - at least for me. Now after some years of listening mainly to CDs I discovered my vinyl collection again. My demands on good audio quality have grown by the time and I'm now thinking of an improvement of my turntable. Buying a new and better one would be an option but on the other hand I love "my" Thorens because we spent a lot of good times together. To be a little kitschy, I love watching it turning it's table an I love that cheap sounding "klick" when the record is finished. So I have some questions concerning this turntable: I'm using it like it came out of the box in 1988, except for three new needles, two new belts and some adjustment after moving it. Are there any improvements to this configuration? On the turntable thre is still that original piece of plastics, the psu is the one supplied by Thorens. Any opinions on improving a Thorens TD 280 mkII? Or is it not worth it? Greetings Floric |
