Hello all,

Has anyone built a tubed power supply for a turntable? I've got a DC motor, was led to believe that batteries were best to feed it, but there are other opinions... So I thought it would be cool to have some more tubes glowing on my rack, but it is hard finding info about this stuff. And I don't know anything about it:rolleyes:

Anyone?

I have experimented with tube AC power for a synchronous motor. Other factors seem more important than the type of amplification as far as absolute sound quality is concerned but tubes offer a simple alternative in generating 100-200v AC.

IN your case you may find mercury vapour rectifiers to be suitable as far as rectification goes. A SS regulator still seems like a better idea.
