I distroyed my preamp: dc on imput

I was building myself a tda1543, and I think I went a little quicker then was good for the project: I did not measure and went ahead and connected the whole thing. Yes stupid, and ignorant I guess.

What I think happend was that the preamp got some good old dc on its input, and now it stopped working completely. It doesnt give any sound on any of its inputs. -is that even possible?-
So here is my question, not being an expert on amplifiers; what could be the problem here? Is there sort or less a golden rule on what would break down first?

The preamp is a non tube one "regular"

I`m gonne evaluate the dac with a friend, to prevent such a thing again after I repair the preamp

Hope someone can give me any hints on what would surely break after putting a dc signal on the input.

Plz don`t mind the Typo`s, my computer needs to think on every letter, so some mistakes are not easily discoverd.

I also question my Is2 output from my cd pro, should that be fed to the dac via resistors, or just straight to the tda? I have done it without the resistors, although I see some people using it.

Well all the luck in the world I guess; one of my coupling caps was leaking so thats what distroyed my preamp. The dac is rebuild now and is working correctly, guess now I must seem to find the problem with the preamp.

U need to open the preamp and do a visual inspection (anything is burnt, discolored...) This is the first step in repairing. Next knowing that there are no LETHAL VOLTAGES, feel the temperature of the input circuit components. For this u will have to trace the path from the i/p connectors.

This is very strange. Most preamps are quite tolerant of a few volts of dc at i/p. What preamp are you using?

Its a really old Philips preamp, it was used in a bar -its the professional 19inch series- Preamp 280 its called.

I haven`t opent it yet... But maybe this weekend I will, cos thinking about the problem doesn`t really solve it -although it helps!-

A tube amplifier should not really care about the dc voltage, but a non tube one? I don`t know... the dac was tried for about 4~6 seconds, maybe thats too long..
