Hi,
first question was the pd444 direct drive or belt????
do you have the plater???

if it is direct drive and you have the platter and you want to use it this way go to the "Direct Drive Museum" do a web search there is a bit of help there!!!!

if you just have the bearing go to www.KRISHU.de a website with
a lot of info and a turntable gallery. Christian is a nice Guy and i have got a lot of help there

Thanks Fantasia,

Actually I wanted to make my bearing at a machine shop (see attached drawing) but it came out way more then I expected.
The Luxman was on ebay and it looked to be masive & it was much cheaper.
Any sugestions on the best bearing to get for under $100.

Thanks
Izhak

Well,

your american you could try Teres they make bearings very high quality and price!!!!!

I would try Scheu analog try a web search their in germany have an english language site and you can buy their bearings, platers motors.
Christian from WWW.Krishu.de got his bearing and platter through them. Christian told me that that it was around $150 Euros(bearing). That is really cheap the bearing is the nightmare in a turntable and if thats good the results will be, go do a search!!!!!

The only problem with the luxman might be attaching it to a plinth???? if you sent a photo that would hel,p failing my help try christians site

regards Fantasia

Hi

Fwiw

While not in the same league as a Teres, have a look at the G99 bearing here. It is the same as a Lenco GL75 unit.

www.freewebs.com/bornin50-2/mainbearings.htm

GL 75 decks are plentiful and cheap, and stand the test of time.

I've seen successful belt drives made using a GL75 platter and bearing.

Just a thought.

Thanks all,
I'm starting to search for these TT on ebay.
I'm also checking if I can purchase bronze sleeve & SS 1/2" bar
with good tolarence so that I could do the bearing with very little machining.
I'll keep you posted
Izhak
