Default Tonearm geometry help requested

I'd like to build a DIY tonearm, but I need help with determining the geometry. I have a spreadsheet I found on the web that takes the effective length and inner and outer radii as inputs and calculates angular and linear offset, stylus overhang, pivot to spindle and inner and outer nulls, but I'm afraid I don't know the exact definition of most of these parameters. Can someone help me out?

I'd like the arm to be on the long side - around 12".

Thanks.

Paul,
it is really relative simple. Somewhere in the library of Vinyl Engine you can find the Audio"80 article by Pisha and in the library of Vinyl Asylum you will find still more.

The best standard is the IEC Bearwald one with weighted error angle. Just read the right dimensions in the tables.

And someone called John Ellison has a site where you can find a very clever spreadsheet. Just ask him a question about it at Vinyl Asylum where he is a regular visitor. He will answer as fast as anything.
Jan.
