Tweakable Turntable For Complete Novice?
Hello all.
I'm new here and have never 'tweaked' anything in my life, well not hi-fi based anyway! I have one of these (Hitachi PS-38 Direct Drive): http://http://www.nakedresource.com/...php?pic_id=490 I'm trawling the net looking for tips on ways to improve the sound from this. I have an Ortofon 510 cartridge on it and it's connected to a Cambridge Audio A1 amp and Gale gold monitors. I realise this is quite low end but are there any tweaks I should be trying? I've already decided to get a project or nad phono stage or something similar as the additional £20 cambridge add on doesn't sound at all good. I heard this turntable through a friends Wharfedale midi hi-fi and the turntable sounded so much better, so I reckon the phono stage and/or amp needs seeing to. Also, would anyone recommend trying out things like record clamps, wooden cones etc? Thanks for any tips in advance. |
