Hello all.
I'm new here and have never 'tweaked' anything in my life, well not hi-fi based anyway!
I have one of these (Hitachi PS-38 Direct Drive):
An externally hosted image should be here but it was not working when we last tested it.

I'm trawling the net looking for tips on ways to improve the sound from this.
I have an Ortofon 510 cartridge on it and it's connected to a Cambridge Audio A1 amp and Gale gold monitors.

I realise this is quite low end but are there any tweaks I should be trying?

I've already decided to get a project or nad phono stage or something similar as the additional £20 cambridge add on doesn't sound at all good. I heard this turntable through a friends Wharfedale midi hi-fi and the turntable sounded so much better, so I reckon the phono stage and/or amp needs seeing to.

Also, would anyone recommend trying out things like record clamps, wooden cones etc?

Thanks for any tips in advance.
