Help with phono chord fitting Black Widow tone arm

I am enrolling in "kindergarten" as far as analog turntables are concerned. I have received a Kenwood KD-500 TT with an Infinity Black Widow tone arm. It is mounted but has no chord with it. The connection is a 5 pin socket type plug under the tone arm mounting. I will be running the signal to a Pioneer Spec-1 preamp with a Nakamichi 430 power amp. Can anyone recommend what I need for the phono chord? Is there a complete chord made to fit the Black Widow that can be ordered?
Really, I have learned most of the terms I have used in my post during the last week.
Thanks to all in advance

I have an Audio-Technika tone arm which uses a 5 pin DIN connector at the base of the arm....
I wish you luck.

No tonearm I've ever seen has a 5 pin connector according to DIN standards,
Male/female is usually reversed, a plug resembles a socket and vice versa.

(That is for tonearms the socket has the pins, quite unlike DIN)

Who said anything about DIN standards? It's a 5 pin DIN connector. I'm looking at it as I type.

DIN = DIN in my book,
in this case DIN is a useless qualification,
its simply a 5 pin inline tone-arm connector.

It would be quite significant to someone ordering
a 5 pin DIN plug to 2 phono plugs lead / adaptor.

You might be able to rewire the connector the plugs into the arm.
This is the connector the plugs into my A-T tonearm.

Well IMO if the connector fits into the arm its unlikely
to need rewiring, and if it does rewiring the connector
in the arm is probably going to be easier.

There a couple of very murky shots of the connector
in the manual from Vinyl Engine, doesn't help much.

Except you could probably rewire using a S-VHS
plug and socket if a lead doesn't turn up, or if
it comes to it hardwire to the socket pins.

Well as I've said tonearm plugs/sockets do not conform to DIN standards.

So describing it as DIN is IMO misinformation.

The last time I had this discussion over on Vinyl Engine someone
had a spare lead lying around so end of that particular problem.

You can download the black widow manual from there and all
its shows is a fairly small 5 pin straight (not bent) connector.

The Infinity Black Widow is made in Japan. I recently bought a used one and it came with a 'Din" to phono cable that I recognize as the same one that my Fidelity Research FR 64S tonearm came with.

Thus any straight 'Din' to phono cable will work. Cardas also sell the 'Din' connector for phono cables and you can purchase one and make your own cable up.

Well note that the "DIN" plug is referred to a a female din.
And the "DIN" socket is referred to a male din.

And that there are different sizes, though if its a japanese arm
the lead should relatively interchangeable, unless the IBW has
used a particularly small connector.

Hi,

So describing it as DIN is IMO misinformation.

It is of course not correct to say it's a DIN connector...
More correct would be to call it a "DIN"-style connector.

OTOH, the entire industry is abusing that standard, even the electronic giants so, ..... they're all wrong.

Anyway, if you want such a connector/plug assembly, you're likely to find that at dealers carrying goodies a la Van de Hul, IOW dealers that still service cartridges, cables for tonearms and such.

Cheers,;)
