Of course there are many applications that do the same jobs, but they don't pass from cartridge-tonearm-turntable-prephono chain, this is why are used test LPs, I suppose.

It's interesting that B-K chose not to apply the high boost of the RIAA curve. (thanks PABA for the link) That's one way of cutting higher level sweeps.

Any comments on the anti-skating waveforms of the Shure tests?

THe STR series has those too.

Perhaps we should include a sweep that would be cut flat. It would play flat on a flat preamp. It could also help us know how flat the mastering is.

The issue is if we aim for 3 decades frequency range (20 Hz - 20 kHz) at constant velocity, the top end would diminish in noise, due to amplitude limitation at the low end.
