Can someone please tell me whats the difference btw a 1/3 octave graphic eq and a 2/3 octave graphic eq.
Well basically i need to tune and adjust the sound to suit a music style[reggae] and venue room acoustics. So 1/3 octave eqs are normally 31 band have a wider selection of frequencies to choose from and boost or cut,but have less boosting and cutting than 2/3. 2/3 octave eqs are normally 15 band, less selection of frequnecies to cut or boost, but you can boost them or cut them more. So for my style and venue room acoustics which EQ would suit me best. And i'm playing/mixing recorded music in a venue at high volume levels.

You've answered you own questin re: the difference between equalizers.
For your needs, a 15 band equalizer would probably do the job. On the other hand if you get a used one, on ebay for example, you should be able to pick up a 1/3 octave for not too much more money. |

You'll find that if you turn two adjacent sliders up on 1/3 octave
equaliser the boost is similar to a 2/3 octave equaliser. sreten.
