i think its possible to use a mono signal and channel it left-to right-to-left-to-right

im aware that its possible if u have someone "playing" with the left-right knob on the mixer, but is it possible in an effector.
if there is such a thing, plz tell me more about it, if there ain't, do u know how to create it?
this effector should have 1 pl mono input ,1 pl stereo output, 1 knob for the speed of moving from left to right, and a dpdt switch that switches from bypass mode to "on".
im very sorry if these questions sound noobish and foolish to u...but im a noob...

On a midi desk also known as autopanning.
If its not synched to bars / beat it sounds awful.
For live work for the majority of the audience it is confusing.
For live work it is an effect that rapidly becomes
seriously tedious for the majority of the audience.
Should only be used sparingly at the best of times for
a recording and only if it works somehow in context.
