The Nakamichi discrete play head has two windings per channel that are both accessible at the head terminals. I have a 482Z with a play head in good condition but one of the windings on the left channel is open circuit (they usually measure around 90 0hms), so I have shorted the open winding which means both channels work on the deck but I am around 3dB down on the left channel, so I need to increase the gain on the head amp. What is the best way of doing it please without spoiling the EQ?
I have replaced the two 2SC1844's per channel with a 2SC2547 and a 2SC1845 for lower noise, Q101 is the 2SC2547
At the minute I am about 20% down on play level with the pot turned to max. I have attached the schematic.
