Default Marantz 6025 platter fouling issue

Hi all

I am currently restoring a Marantz 6025 and seem to have hit a bit of a problem.

The platter, when installed over the spindle, rubs the motor shaft and speed control arm. There doesn't appear to be any adjustment in the bearing itself - there is a little circlip that slots into a groove on the spindle to hold it in but it doesn't let you adjust the height of it.

Is the bearing worn? Is there anything else I should look at?

How can I repair the bearing?

Thanks

Hi,

The most obvious cause would be the ball bearing is missing.

rgds, sreten.

Could well be the case. I can't see a ball bearing inside the spindle hole.

Can't see how it can just be missing though, unless previous owner has been fiddling?

Anyone got any idea what size ball I need?

Post some pictures..

And check out www.vinylengine.com for manuals and perhaps other information.

Not all of these tables have a ball bearing in the main bearing. First thing to suspect however.

Looks almost exactly like that except mine has some extra holes drilled in the mounting plate.

Hmm. Having cleaned up the bearing I think there is a ball bearing in the bottom, in fact, although I can't get it out. Stand by...

Edit: Can't quite tell if I'm looking at a bearing or the pocket where one should go. Probably the latter. I think I'll call it a night and have another look tomorrow...
