What motor is that? DC/AC? It looks very big.
Amazing how so many of you know everything about this deck without even having seen, not to mention, heard it.
The (shaded pole)motor and the flywheel came out of a 1956 Sander and Janzen reel to reel machine(Saja Mk4). Noisy it is definitely NOT.
You bet it's has a lot of torque , - the platter is heavy(10kg) and it takes no more than two revolutions to come up to speed(33,3rpm)

Due to the lack of interest, I consider this project closed.
Myself I am moving to Salvation 2 table with RIM drive, that way I will be able to develop the ultimate controller for DC motor on an existing working mechanical design.
