Default Thinking about Advanced Analog MG1.1 arm (on Oracle)

Hi there. I am looking for input on the MG1.1 linear tracking arm. My current TT is an Oracle Delphi Mk2 (its a Mk1 with some upgrades), Linn Ittok LV2 and Benz Micro Ruby2.

I came across the Advanced Analog MG1.1 arm on ebay. it looks like a good arm. Since I am in Canada there is a potential risk of losing $300 if I decide the arm is not for me and I send it back for a refund (Lin [the guy who makes and sells the arm] offers a 30 day money back guarantee [!!]). The reason is shipping and taxes are not part of the refund.

So my questions are:

- has anyone put an MG1.1 successfully on an Oracle Mk1 or Mk2? Based on the dimensional drawings there may be an issue mounting the arm the noted 66.5mm from the spindle centre - this places the mounting centre slightly outside my mounting area, towards the front! wondering if its possible to mount more to the rear

- does the MG1.1 work ok with the springy oracle suspension?

- any specific issues or "gotchas" with the MG1.1 (I know about the air pump noise and the need to keep it accurately level)

I am more looking for first hand experience with the MG1.1 and the Oracle.

The springy suspension shouldn't be a problem as long as you know how to adjust the springs so you get a equal up and down bounce on all tower springs with the tonearm installed. You might have to change springs to accomplish this.
When you push down on the center platter and release, it shouldn,t be bouncing around at will, but appear damped and stop very quickly.

I haven,t used the arm in question but have installed a ET1 and ET2 air bearing TA,s on Oracles before.
I had to add extra mass to the suspension and use the heaviest springs to make it work better and more immune to movement.
The arm looks light weight and you shouldn't have any issues.
I remember seeing an Air Tangent mounted to one and question that installation..

Lin told me the MG1.1 weights 2lbs. I am not sure of the weight of the Linn Ittok that is on my Oracle, but I figure it weighs 200-300g. i have a 500g weight that i put on the arm board and it causes the sub-chassis to sink on the arm side (obviously). i wanted to get a sense of the amount of deflection to see if its even possible.

The issue is that taking into account all the non-refundable costs to try the arm out, I risk losing $300 if I can't get it to work. I have various sets of springs for my oracle but I am unsure which ones would work.

I suppose if I was really keen on this, I could weigh down the armboard to 2lbs and try different springs. seems like a lot of work. but its the only way to mitigate the risks of trying this arm out. I suppose at some point in the future I may try it. but for now its not a high priority. I have the TT set up pretty good with the Ittok. There is also an issue of the MG1.1 working with my Benz Micro Ruby 2.

I'd like to upgrade to the MG1.1 but I have no examples of anyone trying it on an Oracle Mk1 or Mk2. The suspension in the later oracles are different and simple picture doesn't tell me that it was set up and working well.

Oh well.
