Default Why no moving iron cartridges?

There are moving coil and moving magnet cartridges. Why no moving iron?
From physics it should work and could be lighter than magnet or coil.
The moving iron would simply "deform" the magnetic field of a permanent magnet
hence inducing a current in a coil.

Of course there are moving iron cartridges (variable reluctance) Grado makes them, among others.

I thought there were. AKG? Grado? B&O. Someone makes them, I'm sure.
EDIT: Opps, cross post.
