Question ? Removing pillar socket Grace 707

Hi,
I need to rewire a 707, but can't get the socket out of the pillar (IE the black plastic 'female' connector, which is recessed into the bottom of the chrome pillar/post of the arm)

The slotted grub screw came out fine, but the socket doesn't want to move. Has anyone rewired a 707 and come across this issue?

I rewired my 707 years ago and seem to remember the socket being a tight fit in the tube. I'm sure the socket was glued in and you'll need to insert the lead and gently twist it to free the socket.
