I see Stereo Lab in German is selling plinth for TD124. I'm trying to find information about advantage/disadvantage of using solid CLD vs. hollow plinth for Thorens TD124. Has anyone had directly experience in this comparison? Please share yours. Thanks.

I've never had the pleasure of a TD124 but I've owned two Garrard 401's and plenty of Lencos which are similar being idler drive. I think mass is the key here so a solid plinth made up of ply layers or a piece or pieces of slate is the way to go. Having tried both box and solid plinths I find the solid plinth wins every time. I'm considering building a solid plinth for my Empire 598 and this deck is a suspended belt drive. I'm sure it'll be worth the effort.
