Well, enough about coating fluids. Gpapag said this thread was for discussing vinyl technical issues.
I just bought a used 12" LP, Gramophone long-play 20189, (stickers). On the sleeve #1380 Beethoven Overtures, "recorded in Europe", copyright 1952 Record Corp of America (not Radio corp, notice). It has noticeable flutter recorded into a couple of tracks. Was this early Deutche Grammophone, or some ex- GI knockoff import? Think this was wire recorder or acetate transcription disk for the master? Or genuine National Socialist era mag tape? The sound is medium, decent vinyl with low pops, obviously ribbon or earlier microphones, no obvious pops recorded into the track like it was recycled 78 rpm stuff . Berlin Symphony Orchestra conducted by Leopold Ludwig. Record "made in USA" according to the small label on it.
