Hello all
In case anybody is interested, I just finished measuring my BC337s. These are Fairchild devices purchased on ammo tape from Mouser Canada in late November. Part number 512-BC33740TA. For compatibility with others, I used the circuit shown in Post #72. It is very easy to build with a breadboard. I used small pliers to move the transistors (not to warm them up). A fan blows air on the transistors to be tested, the breadboard and transistor under test, and my pliers, to make sure the temperature stays constant. Within at the most a few seconds, the HFE measurement is rock solid. Results: HFE # 550+ 14 545-550 14 540-545 45 535-540 36 530-535 14 525-530 27 520-525 37 515-520 70 510-515 70 505-510 80 500-505 36 495-500 16 I have not measured my BC227s yet, but based on a few samples I already know that their HFEs will be lower. I am going on travel for a week. BC227 measurements to come in 10 days or so. Thanks to all for this project! Pierre Last edited by PierreQuiRoule; 8th December 2012 at 12:08 PM. |

guys,
i cant hardly read the handwriting of hesener on this matching curcuit. should it be a 10k resistor next to the 78L05 on the right side? www.diyaudio.com/forums/analogue-source/218625-paradise-builders-2.html#post3214907 thanks! |

my apologies, thats just a 10K resistor used for loading the linear reg, so that it doesnt run idle - it may have some ringing when you insert transistors and that may delay the measurement. not critical.....

hi guys,
got 3 more questions in my head i hope you can help me with - i`m not that confident about those things 1) the Paradise R3 assambly guide shows a pic of the installeion on the last page - it looks like there are XLR connectors besides the RCA IN/OUT - is that right? i thought the R3 does not deliver a balanced output - is this only an unbalanced XLR taken from the RCA output? 2) Input impedance selector - what is the best choice? thought about a rotary switch with 2 Pole/Deck x 6 Positions?? other suggenstions? 3) Load impedace resistors - i thought 10R, 47R, 100R, 249R, 475R, 1000R would be a good choice. am i missing something? thank you guys for your support! regards, michael |

Output is not balanced
I don't have picture in front of me but maybe XLR for supply? As long as done properly (no noise) there are many ways to pluck the duck Dip switches to close and put in parallel the components is another way Many more combinations available with less components and less steps on switch is one of the advantages. OR if you have a prefered value a second set of phono plugs with components soldered inside |
