Paradise Builders

I never use the Neumann pole out of various reasons.
We have discussed that at length on the MPP thread.

You are absolutlely right, without theory, the MPP thread, your reflections,
Alfreds and all other guys in and around different thrends, paradise wouldn't exist. And I am happy that i have one.:D
But more practical input is important as well.
My grandmother said, (God rest she soul) she was a very wise woman:)
"The proof is the pudding"
Would be intresting to know is there any other guy with
similar experience.;)

Take it easy

Hi Floks

The deep is done;) Calvin Buffers are fitted in and working perfect:D
First sound impression superb !!! more details later.
At the moment there is only one thing. I have a little bit less gain, mybe normal. Tomorrow I will discuss that with Alfred. When anybody has an
idea, wellcome :)

Watch out! 2SK 170 other pinout;)

Can you please elaborate a bit on your subjective listening impressions ?

What are the main differences ?

What about output offset ?

I am particularly interested in the high frequency rendition.... do you notice any differences in fluidity ?

Hi Ricardo

First of all, it is hard for me to remember a complex listening impression,
not so easy. For that I have already done some records in 24bit / 96 Khz
(July@ Soundcard and Steinberg cubase) I wil do that with the new buffer
as well.

I listen Paradise without Neuman and Batterie power and use pre-reg PSU
as charger. I am not 100% sure what is better but it is a small bit more quiet. At the moment I prefer Batterie:)

Again paradise in "standard setup" is the best transistor Phono amp I have ever heard.:)

My first subjective listening impressions with the new "Celvin Buffer" is
a bit more musical and you hear some more detials clearer.
For example: Melody Gardot / The Absence. There is one song with streets noices in background , the distance is the same as before, but with the new buffer you nearly understand what they are tooking.
Another feeling is, I have that want to listen louder and louder if you know what I mean. That was before as well, but not so strong.
In this setup is Paradise now my favorite pre amp. :D

The lineout offset is same as before stabil by +- 1.0/4,0 mVolt.
The buffer offset itself it easy to adjust to 0,00 mVolt and stabil!!!

High frequency rendition, I can't find out no instrument, sorry for that.
That is maybe a question for Calvin or Alfred. ;)

Take care Werner

Maybe a short comment to Transen matching.

I have fitted 2SK170 (carefull another Pinout) ; and J107.

I matched 4 of 2SK170 to 6,1 mA, IDSS
should be higher between 8,5-10mA,but works in my system.

For IDSS I use these circuit

And 4 of J107 to / 2 x 3.57 Volt; and other side 2 x 3,15 Volt, VGS
should be higher as well around 5,5 Volt, but works in my system and I
hope it is OK .

For VGS these circuit

Late starter

I bought the boards and the component kit in the first round but never got the time to sit down and build until now :)

Just checked the BC337/BC327 transistors and got a bit disappointed as I found them to be marked with different Hfe classifications, BC337-40 and BC327-25. I guess I am not alone?

Measured them and they averaged 520 in Hfe for BC337-40 and 320 for the BC327-25.

Things get wrong. Let's look forward. I have followed this thread and I know there has been some transistor swapping and some have bought thousands of transistors to get it right.

I have:
250 pcs BC337-40, Hfe around 520 (Original KIT, brand?)
250 pcs BC327-25, Hfe around 320 (Original KIT, Brand?)

I also have:
500 pcs BC337-25, Hfe around 190 (Motorola)
200 pcs BC327-25, Hfe around 330 (Philips)

According to the design guide Hfe around 400 is preferable.
Does anyone have transistors to sell? Or would Hfe around 320-330 do, and if so, would anyone like to do some transistor swapping?

I have a very good rig to do transistor selection, matching. So if someone wants to send me transistors I can do the selection as long as I can keep
a batch of my own
