Hi guys, i have just completed my pre-regulator using CLC, IEC filter and further CRC at the stage . I am getting 25.3 V at pre-regulator. It sounds much better than my previous simple pre-regulator- just caps- multiple in parallel. I recalled the simulation stated minimum voltage should be 25V but else where in the thread it stated 26V?. Any clarification?.

As stated before 25V is the absolute minimum. Using the pre-regulator I would presume that you 25.3V is safe enough :) See also my earlier response below.

The 26V volt was mentioned by 'someone' :) saying, there is no audible improvement when the input voltage was raised above 26V (my estimate is that this was measured with the more 'conventional' power supply (just rectifiers and a pair of buffer electrolytes).

O.K. I am wrong 25Vdc is the minimum, 26Vdc gives a bit of headroom. See Post#155 and Mpp#6462 (sorry to have created some confusion, my only excuse is I do not have my notes here at this location ). P.S. for the 25Vdc you need to check the PSU input voltage with an scope (to check for the minimum!).

Hi quan
What sort of once ( load resistance R1 / R3 ) you have build in ?
I have in my pre-regulator 10 Ohm and get 26,2 Volt.
In my mind it sounds better :D

Folks

First of all, a correction about my temperatur mesurements before.
I have done that again with an fresh calibrated gage and probe.
After 4 houres operated it's only 42 C, by 22 C room temp.
Sorry for the wrong nummber before.

Next thing what I have done, I have bridged the Neumann resistors.
Bachground fore that,
I was not so 100% happy (soundwise) with some records, fore example:

Alison Krauss/ New Favorit
Karin Bremnes/ Norwegian Moon
Sting/ Symphonicites
Nora Jones/ Littel broben Hearts

Special the voices are little bit to present and a little bit to twangy or harsh, you know what I mine.
This records are sounds better with my Tube Phone MK4.
A couple of days ago I thought mybe the Neumann R. is the reason.
Now I am 100% sure (fore me personal) after long trails with and without Resistor, that it is much better without. Not only voices warmer and natural sound, the whole spatial sound wins :D
Let me know when somewhere has similar experience made.
