Tonearm
So this is the Tonearm so far,
The lower section is Bronze a plastic arm rest and if I can figure out how to make a lifter it will be mounted on this as well, then we move on to the yoke for the arm machined for a bit of Alu that I cast in the Foundry I have been playing around with. The Bearing for this caused me some problems it wasn't untill I looked closley at the cutter on the lathe that I figured out what was going on, I had a chip in it so I was turning down 1/2mm to far. It took three goes to get it right.
From there the arm will be Carbon Fibre
I will keep posting
Thanks

So I have had another good few hours in the work shop, love being on Leave from work.
I have joined the two part of the arm mount, the Arm is a Carbon fibre Shaft from a umbrulla the next parts I need to figure out are the Counterwieght and the Cartridge Mount. If anyone has any thoughts or ideas I would love any input
Thanks

counter weight
Hi all so more fun had, counterweight made weight cam in at 117g.
I think it will be ok middle of the weight range for tonearms the mass sit's in the same plane as the piviot point.
I decided to see how it tracks and turned it in to a Gramaphone. A small sewing needle and paper cone (sorry to any Billie Joel fans this record will never be the same)
I have uploaded a couple of vids on Flickr

Hello Bksabath
Would it be an equilateral triangle ? Would it be oriented point up or flat up?
Is there any technical information available? It sounds intriguing.
Sincerely,
Ralf
Why not make a triangular section arm tube and out perform most of what is out there on the market.

Hm .. looking very good and very interesting!

I will post a crude drawing and take a photo soon

Beautiful finished project.
Did you have to turn the Garrard rotor over or was the motor a belt drive originally?
Thank you very much
the Motor was a belt driven model, But have turned a new pulley. My 33.3 needs a small tweek it is 34.2 not sure if i can here it though?
Garry
I have enjoyed looking at this now for project 3
