Default Garrard 401 question

Hi everyone

A question please.

I have been given a Garrard 401 and its fitted into a plinth. I have it in the top of my tower unit which is an old technics set up.
When I switch the turntable on , there is a quiet " whining " noise from the motor.

Is this usual ? -

I will not look at it until I have an expert opinion.#
This does not detract from the music, as it is a very quiet whine, but nevertheless is still there. If I carefully lift the unit from my tower unit, there is still the whineing sound.

I have not serviced it as yet. I have all the documentation re: servicing it, i.e greasing the bearings etc. etc.

- Just wondered if this is typical of a 401 ?

Thanks for any kind replies
Adrian

Yes, the motors in these units make a little noise.. I would service it soon.
