It seems Roy was right about 8Hz , I certainly beleive it . The RIAA point is that some pre amps have a 20 Hz filter in built . I speculate that raising the resonant point might help lift the bass a bit . If owning turntables unlike the Rock which has a damper , there is a considerable lift in bass at resonance . Personally I find it useful as the cutting engineer has to limit bass . Could be why LP's always sound preferable to most CD . Tube amps do it also if SE I find . What the Rock has is the ideal use of a damper . I suspect using thinner damper oils helps ?

If using the 12 Hz rule some pick ups of the 1970's ( Sonus Blue , ADC ) required arm mass of - 5 g ( impossible ) .

In reality in an SME or Infinity Black widow they were fine at 8Hz . The Cu on some was 60 . Tracking was possible at 0.7 g .

Yes, thinner fluid in my trough also I use J7s slippery stuff for the bearing which is thinner than the supplied oil.

I found the DL-103 works really well with the front end damping added to the RB250.
