Hi all,

long time reader, first time poster.

I have just acquired two 80's digital tuners, an Onkyo T-4150 and a Yamaha TX-500U.

The Yamaha has a niggling fault that I am not sure if it needs attention or not. When switched off from the front panel switch, the transformer hums slightly. I have had it apart today and fitted rubber o-rings between the transformer and the chassis, which has minimized the audible noise to almost nothing.

My question is, is it worth changing the transformer, or is it nothing to worry about? If I were to change it is there anything I should know? It is a basic 240-18vac transformer, I have had a look on ebay and can get one for around £10-£20.

Thanks in advance!
