I work with a lot of different woods and all have different resonance signatures. Bamboo is very dense and has a ring to it compaired to less dense woods. When you tap it bamboo rings rather than a low frequency thud.

...but so does any dense material as does aluminum and brass...but just because the material rings when tapped with a nukel does that mean it will be a poorer choice than a plastic one...I think not...the impact energy of a nukel ring is many thousand times more higher than a acoustic or cartridge energy can induce into it...its a matter of obsorbtion or reflection of energy when it comes to a cartridge and how it reacts with record, mat or no mat and platter not even mentioning the mechanics of the bearing interface with the rest of the turntable will be more of a factor than density of platter...the higher the density and mass the better in my opinion...dimension of material used is just as important

Bamboo is not very dense at all. In fact, it is lighter than nearly every wood species. Only balsa is less dense on average than bamboo.
