Default Why I love radio

Herbie Hancock doing Rhapsody in Blue live with the LAPhil. As Lenny B could only dream of. Right now on KWAX, the world's best classical station. It's music first, equipment after, IMO.

Thanks for that. I'll add KWAK to my radio list. Used to listen to KMHD when I lived between the Willamette and the Columbia.

That's KWAX. Now it's live folk music from the KLCC Studio in Eugene. I may live in the provinces but I suspect there are few places in this country with 2 24/7 classical stations, a full time broad spectrum jazz station, 2 serious NPR outlets, and the one and only KBOO. Did I say I love radio?

Oregon seems to do very well in Radio.
It's not bad here in central Carolina where I live. Several very good FM stations within reach.

I love radio as I drive a lot, 400 or 500 miles at a time. It's really interesting to hear what's going on in different parts of the country, particularly at night when there's a new station every 10kHz.

We've got full time classical in Louisville, I just donated to the drive. We drove to FLA in August, no classical music in Nashville, Chattanooga, Atlanta, or Jacksonville. Preach preach preach preach on non-commercial FM. I like a good sermon but I like them live. I miss KRLD-AM Dallas classical at night. You could count on it when you got out in hog reports/crying in my beer territory in the middle. Now AM is all talk talk talk talk, FM is going the same way.

Music is gospel. Preaching is ego. Again, JMO.

Thanks for the stations guys. I've added them to my travel list. I travel alot for work so I got an air card for the laptop. Here's what I did. Air card on the dash, laptop on the seat then connect the laptop to the stereo. Don't get the wrong idea I don't need good music all the time, just like with DIYaudio I can quit anytime.

If quirky and eclectic is your bag, KVRX and KOOP both stream. My radio is set to them 75% of the time (KUT gets the last 25%; their non-NPR programming is excellent).

I should mention KQAC, the other all classical station in my area.
