Default Tribute-Audio MC-Transformer review

Moving Coil Transformers for DIY [English]

I know the 2 other transformers in the review, LeBong & Jensen. I think LeBong sounds not very good, Jensen is better but frankly Lundahl beats them all by a fair margin and the Tribute-Audio? A manufacturer not capable of building a MC-transformer without hum can't be taken seriously, by all means.

"The Tribute showed considerable hum..."

I have the Tribute MC's (newer version than tested) and they don't humm. I have them very close to the MM stage and in the same chassis. Love them btw.

Hmmmm, you also love Wadia DAC's. I had always the feeling that Wadia is for the show but not for the serious listener. Or to put it undiplomatically: Pure RIP-OFF!

Indeed strange. But anyway. Wadia are top-dacs and expensive and very nice to see and hold. Now I have a Weiss Dac202 that is even better and a lot smaller.

Just ordered a Hashimoto MC HM-X. Very curious to find out if it is any better than the Tribute if I can ever say tell since it will be part of a completely different diy phono amp.

The Tribute has stopped humming in my phono stage since I build it in the case of the the MM stage. I used to have the Tribute in a seperate chassis. There it always produced quite some 50Hz humm. So it's true that is prone to humming. It is my first MC transformer so a have no other reference.

Still have the 9206. Amazing value for the money. Not quite the equal of Tribute but still very good. Doesn't hum at all.
