Default Denon Dl-103 Stylus Guard/Cover

I have just got around to trying to fit an Uwe wooden body for my 103R, and realised just how long it is since I last saw my stylus cover... It's long since lost.

I need one in order to remove the plastic body, so was wondering if a generous soul has one I could plunder/borrow. I would happily return it if need be as it wouldn't fit the wooden body anyway.

If you can help, please drop me a message. Your generosity is much appreciated!

P.S.: I am in the UK.

You might find this useful if you are not already aware of Thomas Schick's video on how to install a DL-103 in a UWE body.

The ZU cartridge, Midas (see lencoheaven) and UWE bodies I believe are all substantial improvements over the stock Denon DL-03 IMLE. I use a ZU DL-103 on a Schick 12" arm, and have heard the UWE as well, and both of these approaches substantially increase resolution, bass control, and imaging. (It really pushes the Denon into another class over the stock plastic body which has a number of resonances that color the sound.) The Midas should perform very similarly to the ZU particularly if the generator assembly is damped by an appropriate epoxy. (Note that the Midas is an approved aluminum implementation of the UWE wood body and is quite highly regarded by its users. I'm planning on getting one soon.)

All of these are IMHO a quantum leap better than a stock DL-103 (exceptions noted above) and an additional worthwhile upgrade after this would be the fitting of a cantilever/stylus assembly from Soundsmith for example.

I have a Half bodied Ebony Shell on my denon 103r. Just amazing with a Bob devices SUT.. And i removed the shell without having the guard on. You must be very careful.

Thanks for the feedback. I have a Schick arm and Bob's Devices SUT - seems a popular combo. I have had the wooden body for probably a couple of years - I killed a DL-103 on my first attempt, and so have spent a long time building up the courage to try again on my R!

I have seen the video - migkiller1971, how on earth did you manage to remove the casing without the guard? What technique did you use?

I Held mine and used a box cutter. Very carefully I squeezed it in and barely moved it side to side just a bit to get seperation. Mine must of had some weak glue because it came off very very easy.

Cheers!
