Default Sub Sonic Filter

I have a Nikko Beta 40 pre-amp.It has a Sub Sonic Filter botton,I don't notice a difference when I engage it. What is it's function?

I don't know the preamp, but usually those filters are meant to kill turntable rumble.

G'day mate, I find a sub sonic filter is practically mandatory at least with phono. I have built several of these and they are excellent. http://sound.westhost.com/project99.htm Regards, Felix.
