Hi everytone. I recently acquired a Revox G36 and after doing some recording I've noticed a problem. Everything works fine until recording starts, then Tape Channel II suddenly becomes really quiet even though both Input channels are fine. Tape channel I is okay. So essentially all the recordings the left side (Tape channel I) is 95% louder than the right.
YouTube - Revox G36 Channel I and II.3gp What might be the cause? I hope the machine is fine and I'm doing something wrong ps: I've used both the Diode and Radio inputs (which seem to sound different after matching the gain) and the problem stays. Photo of heads below.

Hi, the tape recording head at the left has tape grime (brown colour) on
it.Use alcohol and cotton bud tip to clean it.I think that should fix it. While you're at it,do it for the other side too. |
