I am wondering if anyone knows if an original MIDIMAN midi-to-tape recorder interface can be used to sync a multi-track tape recorder with a DAW and if so, how? Thanks.

Probably. Depends on your DAW. If it can read and write MIDI time code thru its MIDI interface, you first write a track (record it to one of the audio tracks) and then you play that audio track back into the daw midi input and tell your DAW to chase the time code.
A lot of DAWs these days will chase SMPTE time code which you can record directly to an audio track, with out the need for the MIDIMAN |
