I don't know about them, but I am using the Partridge 977 (1:6 step up) and they are great. Available on ebay.co.uk too!

It's a microphone step-up and sounds terrific with movin-coils.

They have always been highly regarded in even the most expensive studio equipment, are hand-wound on a amorpheos core and most of all have a solid mu-metal casing. Cheers and congrats - they are being scarse on the market. Peter |

Hi Fran.
I would agree totally on the Partridge 977s, i have been using them with a Denon DL103 with excellent results. I was just curious about the D3061 as its a different style case to the 977s, hopefully the D3061s performance is comparable. Plus the extra gain would be usefull. Cheers, and thanksa Steve. |

35:1 is often the way to go when choosing a MC-sterup trafo. But a turn-ratio of those dimensions take the breath out of the designer (and the coil-winding and core-metals at hand).
10:1 may certainly be seen as a noisy solution - but it's always the pick of the best apple soundwise. |

Hi
Well i tried some of these transformers, and the result was very poor! ie zero low frequencys! BLue /Yellow winding measured 60ohm and Brown/Green winding mearured 2.6ohm Which says to me brn/grn is input, Confused. |

Mmmm. On the 977 the input measured 25r and the output 250r. Something not right there. Maybe it's an impedance mismatch and you need something else..
