I just bought a Sony ST-5000W tuner that is not working in stereo mode. There is sound output but there's no stereo separation. Is this an easy fix? Are parts available for this repair? Please advise. Thanks.

Would have to see a manual but problems can be caused by dirty preset pot (speaking generally) for the MPX decoder. Have had this on odd occasions.
What ever you do, do not alter any tuned coils, caps without equipment and procedure to realign. If you can locate the stereo decoder (IC surely... it's not that old it's discrete is it) and see if there is a pot in the vicinity. If you adjust it, first measure the DC volts on the wiper so that you can put it back where it was.
