Hi, people,
I'm not quite so fanatical as I once was about my kit (currently an old Mission Cyrus2, Mordaunt Short MS10's, Cyrus FM2 Tuner, and an old Philips CD624. Recently, my Cyrus Tuner's display quit, so, although I can still use it, I couldn't easily retune it, if indeed it was at all possible. Mission want £170 to repair it, whatever the fault. I've opened the case, just to blow the dust out, and to see if perhaps there was a fuse inside, but beyond that, I'm not going. Who will repair it for less, as, given FM hasn't got a tremendous future I can't justify the £170 (to my wife!) I'm toying with seeking a replacement Cyrus on EBAY, or, more radically, finding a DAB/FM tuner to fit inside the Cyrus case, just to retain the Cyrus aesthetic. Or, I may just capitulate and buy, say a Denon tuner for simplicity. The Cyrus look, weight, and clunky power switch will be missed, though. Any ideas out there? |

Avoid DAB. In the UK it sounds horrible, because we have the lowest bit rates in the world!
