The record player "Alamo" from Moth is a good known record player (nearly identical to Rega Planar and NAD's 533.
But I have an other model from Moth. Typ: "Kanoot" Unfortunately there isn't similar type from other companies. The actually not failured device has on problem: the motor pulley's sizes (for belt) is made for the british marked (mains frequency 60 Hz instead 50 Hz). Therefore in Germany the RPM value isn't right. Where I get such motor pulley for 50 Hz (to replace the exist 60 Hz version)? The old address from Moth is follow: Moth Group Tel: 01234 741152 10, Dane Lane, Wilstead, Bedford, Bedfordshire MK45 3HT and the related URLs here with some history of the Moth Group: http://www.britishaudio.co.uk/aboutus.htm http://hifidiy.co.uk/aboutus.htm Last edited by tiefbassuebertr; 12th March 2010 at 12:13 PM. |

hi
in the UK the mains frequency is 50 Hz, so a standard UK pulley would be fine and i suspect easier to get hold of. there are as an alternative a DC motor conversion kit that may fit, and be of interest

A. diameters: both from the mains frequency and the outside diameter (belt circulation aera) for the turntable platter B: groove wide: both from the kind of belt (round/square/flat) and the material diameter What is a standard UK pulley for you ?? Thank you for your explanation. If I realize an alternative with DC motor conversion kit I must destroy the presently motor (no screw mounted pulley) and must press this pulley to the new DC motor. If I get a 50 Hz pulley (the present pulley is definitely for 60Hz - speed control led me note this to slow speed) I would fix resp. clamp and stick on top of the old pulley - the easiest solution. BTW: In post #1 I have written "the motor pulley's sizes (for belt) is made for the british marked (mains frequency 60 Hz instead 50 Hz)." but I mean "the motor pulley's sizes (for belt) is made for the United States marked (mains frequency 60 Hz instead 50 Hz)." Same as Rega - see Rega notes This isn't right. Moth have produced three different models. Only concerning the model "Alamo" the claim "Same as Rega" is right. But here we talk about an other model, namely "Kanoot" and not "Alamo". Last edited by tiefbassuebertr; 16th May 2011 at 04:18 PM. |
