Patrick, i am aware of your work on this but thanks for reminding me.
I know that the P-channel is steeper also from an investigation that Sigurd Ruschkowski and i did on unbalancing the source resistors.

Here is the circuit that i have being talking about. The mirror with cascode. It should be lower noise and distortion plus better DC stability because the bases are clamped by Leds.
It is even not very complicated. See also the EUVL trick of distortion cancelation. One more small improvement and we are there what i really would like to build.

Smile Great !

Well Joachim,

You didn't heed to mention that it's written on your chest

Mr. G loves Current mirrors

Keep up the good work my friend I'm all ears ( and eyes)

Just in case when somebody wants to experiment with this circuit or simulate it i put in some initial values that should work.

Joachim,

Why the need for R2 in series with C1 ?
Don't want to have the gate connected to C1 directly ?

Patrick

(My apologies for jumping in on the Rs on 2SJ74. It has so much similarity to CEN that I have a more than keen interest how this evolves.)

R2 is not needed. C8 shunts the signal to ground. I included this resistor by default because the input capacitance of the buffer is not linear. Usually i also put a 150pF to ground. At very high frequencies there is a null and then there is stray inductance so the impedance goes up again. This RC filter makes sure that the input signal is bandwidth limited and no signal goes into this problem zone. As i said, in this case it is not necessary.
