Try and build someting like this at his asking $ and get back to us.

Or you can spend 8 to 10K more on a Basis and be happy as a clam knowing the details are worked out.

Somewhere out there is a DIYer who will take this apart and fix any issues and pocket the difference...

Acrylic is widely used in audio apparently for it looks and not it sonic qualities.

It must have some value, as LP's are made from it if I recall correctly :-)

What? Acrylic is probably the best non resonant material one could use to damp any contributing vibrations.

Take a piece of this and hang it on a string and smack it with a hammer and compare it with just about anything else and you'll get the picture. Beauty is more than skin deep on this one.

Yeah, and VPI has recently switched to aluminum because it's becoming harder to find good quality acrylic (According to them). I love my VPI Scoutmaster table, both in the way it looks and sounds.

The original HW-19 was Al. It is amazing to see each year at least 3 or 4 of these one off ultra-highend TT's.

I believe LPs are made from vinyl (PVC).
