sorry I am having trouble linking pics
please forgive me for using a link to another thread for the pics. http://www.audiocircle.com/index.php...;topicseen#new empire/pabst motor mounted in a piece of 4" galvanized pipe with a piece of 2" copper pipe housing the cap and switch. Base is an old lathe faceplate with a 4" piece of bronze machined to accept a 1" spindle. Base weight is 55+ lbs. Armboard is 1.25" micarta/phenolic bolted to the cast iron via 4 fh 1/2 13 bolts compressing multiple layers of sorbothane. arm mount is a piece of 3.5" bronze, I have a pro-ject 10cc evolution showing up next week. Platter is a 2" piece of pvc bolted to a 1.5" piece of 6061 that has a 1" thick bronze donut shrunk fit onto the aluminum, around a .015" interference. After assembly the platter was machined true. The spindle is a 1" piece of drill rod. Platter weight is 45lbs. Still have to further ventilate the motor pod as the empire motor runs a touch too warm in an enclosure. I'm a metal head and this hopefully will be a touch more controlled at elevated listening levels than my empire 208 replinth projects have been. Too heavy to drag to burning amp regards,Bill |
