SME 312S and EMT cartridge

Hi,
I have a wonderful SME 312S tonearm and I bought a cartridge EMT XSD 15. How to match them because XSD is the good one for SME 3009 /3012 but not for SME Series 300.

What do you mean how to match them?In terms of resulting sound?

You can't put an XSD into a 312.

At least, not without massive surgery to the cartridge: get it out of the
XSD shell, and build a new platform for it, including connection pins.

If you can remove the bottom cover of the EMT headshell,check if the cartridge wires on the headshell end have tags or are directly soldered on the headshell pins.If they have tags(female)then there is I guess no problem to fit the cartridge on the 312 arm after you remove the SME's headshell wire..That of cource if the other end of the EMT wires are connected some way on the cartridge too.

The old van den hul MC-1/MC-1B was a modified EMT and was available without a headshell and had flying wires with tags on it.If yours has these flying wires then there is a possibility to use it on other arms too.
