Sure. Any time. Here is the FAQ part. looks like safety is the chief concern with machining it. I wouldn't want to inhale the dust.

Besides inhaling the dust, carbon fiber is actually very easy to work. I make my drumsticks out of it, and the ends have to be rounded. Other than that, it's great stuff to use. A sheet of 200 to 250 grit sandpaper works well for final shaping before cosmetic buffing.

I made a headhsell out of two layers of thin dragonplate (carbon -ply-carbon) and it's as stiff as hell.
I'm thinking that i might make myself an LP12 clone using Dragonplate for the top-plate and carbon-foam laminate for the subchassis and armboard... Should be fun..

Nicoch46, I've been thinking maple, carbon, maple for my plinth. Still not quite decided yet. it may wind up being solid maple. Do bonders for carbon work well on wood also?

Sorry no expert on plinth ,but carbon is good material for TT ,you can add a second layer C-ply-C later....
or a set of tonearm base in different material ,to tunning the sound .... C-balsa-C under TT can work good or for motor base

I am, just not sure what the final design will look like, but it will most likely be a 12" effective length arm with a gimbal bearing. |
