It's for making profit.

Seriously, the only thing I can think that it might do is to warm the cartridge suspension generating heat in it through damping losses. At the price the fellow wants, you could afford a decade's worth of electricity to run a small heater below the cartridge to keep it warm for the same effect.

The "Beer Midget" (my other half) asks, How could you tell if your cartridge was excited or not ?

I am going to market a soft rubber coated device that runs on batteries and also vibrates. This will be called the "Cartridge owner Exciter" and carry some fine print that reads 'not for medicinal use'

I expect it will sell for quite a bit of dosh, and hope to gull a few of the less discriminating Audiofools.
I just love people with lots of money and will always help them part with it.

A bit like Harry Enfield and his shop 'I saw you coming'

Default Maybe for running in?

I thought about buying one but then I thought... what if i just sprinkle Viagra on my stylus.. bingo .. 20 minutes later, my cartridge is way excited....no need for an exciter.
This is definitely from Voodo Audio.inc

How would you control that only cartridge owners benefit from it? You wouldn't want your device to be abused by cd owners who have never owned a cartridge, right?
