I just finished the folded cascode simplistic... Does not even have a metal case yet.... after that a new psu for my power amp.... after that I will bug you for sure

Yes: improvement, never eard piano sounded like in the Itch, sounds very near real piano sound, I'm really impressed.

It sounds ok now.... we droped the second stage cascode that made it sound rather harsh.

The new folded cascode input adds some detail and brings noise down.

I will post some pics latter in the simplistic thread.

Salas, can be an upgrade change 6N2PEV to EF86? or can be a waste of the time & the money?

That's a pentode. Talking about redesigning around it in essence. Can't guess results. 6N2PEV is very sturdy for ringing surely in Itch, EF86 don't know how it would fair in that sector is another thing.

There will be gain, Riaa, and grid leakage differences, bias issues also. Input stage is designed around 6N2PEV special characteristics. Avoid near substitutions like 12AX7. They may work but they will unsettle the specs. Also not pin compatible of course, thus the adapters.
